WINDERMERE'S rearranged Cumbria League match at Keswick went ahead after the Health and Safety Executive gave the all-clear to use the first-team pitch.
However, it seems the clubhouse and changing facilities will have to be demolished due to contamination from the floods.
After Keswick failed with an early penalty chance, Windermere won the next lineout and set up a rolling maul to drive over the tryline for Mike Gregg to score, It was the story of the match and the second of Windermere's six tries came from the backs after Chris Sansom put a well-flighted kick into the Keswick 22, which the forwards won.
A pass was spun out to James Nield who put a chip kick through for Nicko Cross to collect and score under the posts and Sansom converted.
Windermere were back in the 22 from the restart but a knock-on denied them.
However, Keswick were pushed off the scrum-ball and Danny Harrison took a quick tap penalty to score under the posts, Sansom again adding the extras.
Keswick's strength out wide began to show and they forced several mistakes before andy Wallace broke through, but the try was disallowed for an earlier infringement.
However, Keswick forced more errors from the visitors and Shaun Ackley put over two penalties for their first points. Sadly, Ackley broke an arm later which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
For the second half, Windermere replaced Chris Lightburn (hamstring) with Darren Smith and Steve Bragg came on for Martin Lord.
Keswick went on the attack but lost the ball in the visitors' 22 and James Nield picked up and made a fine run into the Keswick half before finding Nicko Cross in support, who put in Chris Sansom to score under the posts and then convert.
This finally took the wind out of Keswick's sails and a quick tap penalty released Darren Smith on his wing. He was tackle just short of the line, but Jeremy Wood was tracking him, collected and dived over to score.
Windermere completed the scoring with a pushover try with Mike Gregg touching down and Sansom putting over the kick.
n On Saturday Windermere go to sixth-placed Whitehaven. who have a reputation of being difficult to beat on their home patch.
