FORMER Waterloo and Manchester back Phil Graham has joined Kendal RUFC.

Graham, an Oxford Blue who also gained an England sevens cap is training with Kendal as they prepare for the coming campaign in National League Three North, which starts at home to Halifax on September 4.

He joins a squad that includes centre Martin Armstrong, fullback Simon Mulholland who has returned to Mint Bridge after a summer touring Europe with a New Zealand sevens side, and Jon Ladell - twin brother of Luke - who has returned home after a season playing in New Zealand.

James Hadwin, a former teammate of the Ladell brothers at Kirkby Lonsdale, has returned to his old club to take up the captaincy.

Kendal's club captain for the coming season is second-row forward Mike Capstick and the vice captain is hooker Duncan Green.

Two pre-season matches have been arranged, the first is against Penrith, at Mint Bridge, on Tuesday August 17 (kick-off 6.30pm and second is away at Wharfedale on Saturday August 21 (kick-off 3pm) for the Peter Kremer Memorial Trophy which is played for annually between the two clubs.
