WHAT a difference a week makes.

After an encouraging and well-deserved victory over Blackpool in the previous match at Dawes Meadow, Windermere were almost unrecognisable on Saturday as they slumped to defeat at the hands of Trafford MV.

Windermere 0 - Trafford MV 41.

The outcome was all the more difficult to understand after the way the game began.

After emerging unscathed from a period of early pressure from the visitors, Windermere appeared to settle down and began to shunt Trafford backwards in the opening scrums.

For a while the match looked evenly balanced, but suddenly the picture changed.

Helped by poor defending, Trafford ran in two tries in the space of five minutes, both of which were converted and Windermere fell apart.

The forwards, who have played with spirit throughout a difficult season, failed to compete as Trafford assumed complete control. With the exception of Danny Harrison and Martin Bateman in the front row and Jim Fallowfield at lock, who worked hard in an effort to stem the tide, the rest of the pack were disorganised and at times almost disinterested.

The visitors, from looking a fairly ordinary side, suddenly became a slick and efficient unit and Windermere were overwhelmed.

The visitors ran up a 26-point lead by the break with four tries, most of them created by Sadler, a strong and elusive centre.

Windermere had no answer as Trafford continued to dictate throughout the second half.

Long before the end, some of the home forwards were reduced to little more than walking pace and overall, this must rank as Windermere's worst performance of the season.
