KENDAL Seconds made the trip to Merseyside to play Waterloo Sconds only to find themselves lined up against several of last season's First XV players.

Not fazed in the slightest, Kendal showed true Cumbrian grit and stood square to the challenge. The forwards worked especially hard against their larger opponents, with Paul Parkin to the fore alongside his propping partner Stu Cartmel, who just failed to score when he was held up close to the try line after a thunderous 20-metre driving maul by his pack.

Final score Waterloo 2nd 33 - Kendal 2nd 7.

Despite a couple of Waterloo scores, Kendal were not deterred and scored shortly before half-time, through robust second-row play from Steve Bowman - Andrew Boardley converted.

Waterloo put the game beyond Kendal's grasp during the second half, but still the Kendal spirit shone through with young right wing Matt Belshaw especially displaying excellent skills.

n The Second XV would like to wish Wayne Broadley a speedy recovery from his recent illness and hope to see him back in the side shortly.
