WINDERMERE are in a run of good form at the moment and travelled to a try fest at Gosforth Greengarth, the bottom club in the Cumbria League.

From the first whistle Windermere posted their intentions running the ball down the right side where Jonathon Cooper passed infield.

Jeremy Woods was tackled just short of the try line, but John Sheasby was on hand to finish the move with his first try of the afternoon, converted by Phil Gavin.

Windermere continued attacking and in the 11th minute when Greengarth were penalised for hands in a ruck, Gavin had no problem scoring the three points.

After 20 minutes the home side were awarded penalty in their own 22-metre area but failed to find touch and Cooper gathered on his own 22, ran to halfway and passed to Chris Sansom who fended off two tackles to score under the posts giving Gavin the easiest of conversions.

Every play now saw Windermere moving the ball and attacking the home line, but on 30 minutes the Greengarth outside centre intercepted a pass and ran the full length of the field to score their only try of the afternoon, which was converted.

For a short period Greengarth pressed, but on 36 minutes a turnover on the Windermere 10-metre line saw back row Daniel Blenkharn run hard, fast and straight shaking of four tackles before passing to Jason Brown who fed Mike Gregg before taking the ball back to score under the posts. Again Gavin converted.

The half ended with another Windermere try, Chris Sansom scoring in the left hand corner. Although Gavin missed the conversion a half-time score of 29-7 was just reward for Windermere's performance.

In the first minute of the second half Gavin ran in a try but failed to convert it.

Green Garth then landed a penalty, but the visitors then began scoring tries at regular intervals. tries came at regular intervals.

Sheasby scored his second gathering the ball from a turnover on the Greengarth line, then Cooper started and finished the move that led to the next. Gavin, struggling with a hamstring injury, missed the conversion and was replaced by Alistair Belshaw.

Five minutes later Windermere were awarded a penalty under the posts, but opted for a scrum from which Cooper scored his third try, converted by Dan Harrison.

Thirty minutes into the half Cooper scored his fourth, which Harrison converted and two minutes later Matt Nield scored his first try of the season, with Harrison again on target.

From the restart Sheasby scored his third to bring up the 70 points ad referee called an early end to what was now a very uneven contest.
