KENDAL must shrug off the disappointment of last week's cup defeat and set about salvaging their season in North Division One.
Tomorrow sees Kendal on their travels to the East Riding where they face the tough task of getting to grips with high-flying Beverley, who are unbeaten at home for three seasons.
"With our away form this year it looks like we have as much chance of winning as an English Ashes cricket team in Australia," says director of rugby Chris Hayton but he adds: "Can we copy Freddie's men and come good at the end?
"We lost the race for the cup on the starting line at Broughton Park, last Saturday," he said.
"A poor kick-off handed the advantage to Park and we were playing at the opposite end from where we planned.
"Park weren't about to squander the opportunity and scored a try we would have been proud of.
"Four minutes later and another unpressurised mistake allowed them in again and there we were 14 points down.
"From then on we rallied scoring three tries while Park added one and we went into a nail-biting last five minutes chasing a score.
"Our need to score led to us playing high-risk rugby and our skills let us down. Park finished us off right on full time with another try.
"They deserved their win because they played the conditions better than ourselves and reap the reward of a home draw in the semi-final."
Going back into league action Kendal know the task they face this weekend although difficult is not impossible, for Beverley were well beaten 33-14 in a flowing display of running rugby at Mint Bridge back in September.
Fifth-placed Kendal's poor away form means they are now six points behind Beverley, but they have a game in hand and if they can put the away jinx to rest and beat the Yorkshire side tomorrow a play-off place is still within reach in the tightly-contested division.
Kendal have beefed up the front row of the scrum for the Beverley match with Andrew Quarry coming in at prop and Allen Martindale reverting to hooker where he had been standing in recent weeks for Duncan Green who has a broken hand.
Richard Harryman has recovered from the injury that bothered him through most of last week's cup match and takes his usual place at prop, while Mike Capstick, fit enough despite damaging his knee last week, is in the second row alongside Liam Hayton.
Top-scoring winger Luke Ladell (dislocated shoulder) remains on the injured list but Massey Tuhakaraina, who played half the game on the wing last week, reverts to his normal No. 10 shirt, with Chris Park going out wide on the left wing.
The coach leaves Kendal Cricket Club at 9am and the full squad is: Forwards: A. Quarry, A. Martindale, R. Harryman; L. Hayton, M. Capstick; R. Quarry, S. Oliver, N. McKain.
Backs: J. Gough, C. Park; P. Tuhakaraina; C. Park, P. Tuhakaraina, N. Michelini, J. Ladell; S. Mulholland.
