SEDBERGH kickboxer Kalum Heywood-Byatt became WKA (World Karate Association) British Champion at the North Solihull Leisure Center with a great victory.
He was under the guidance of Steven Mattinson, the current European Champion, who is one of the senior instructors at Kendal Lau Gar and Kickboxing.
Heywood-Byatt, who fights for the club team Kendal Warriors, also got a silver in a very and close fought final for the Light Continuous British Championship in the less than 80KG class for boys between 15 and 17 years.
He had already qualified for the world championships which are to be held in Italy at the end of October 2013 where he hopes continued good results will get him into the English team.
