KENDAL played host to Ambleside in the Cumbria League and won 2-0.
After last week's successes, Kendal had high hopes for this fixture but were more than aware that Ambleside would pull out all the stops.
Kendal took a while to settle, but the attacking plays soon came together to put on the visitors. Several short corners were awarded Kendal's way, and the Ambleside keeper played a magnificent role denying them the lead. After missed chances Kendal finally went ahead halfway through the first half when Vicky Jones's clean strike beat the keeper.
Kendal then had another a goal disallowed but still kept the advantage going into the break.
In a physical second half, Kendal's marking and defending was excellent, with Claire Martin never beaten in defence.
Kendal pressed till the final whistle with the Ambleside keeper again making good saves and yet another goal was disallowed. Jones that secured the victory with a penalty flick tucked safely placed into the bottom corner.
Kendal's fitness was the key as the opposition showed frustration at Kendal's domination. A superb team display included hard-working individual perform-ances from captain Sarah Bird and youngster Gemma Martindale.
Ulverston 1 - Netherhall 5.....
ULVERSTON went down 5-1 to Netherhall after struggling to make the most of their breaks in a first half which ended 3-1 in the visitors' favour.
After sharing the points in a 2-2 draw with Keswick in the league last week, Ulverston defended well with only 10 players until the missing one turned up.
However, Netherhall's superior finishing told and earned them a 3-0 lead before Ambleside replied when Claire Grace's well-struck shot from the top of the D found the net.
The home team battled on with Bridget Brooks having an excellent game in midfield, but the chances up front would not go in despite good linking between Denise Denison, Vicky Bryson and Paula Eddy.
Netherhall pulled away in the end with two more goals for a decisive final scoreline.
