Kirkby lift title...
KIRKBY Stephen Ladies clinched the Cumbria Under 19s hockey title at Troutbeck Bridge on Sunday with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Wigton in their final match of the tournament.
A late change to a round robin' format meant that Kirkby, who did not arrive until the afternoon, were forced to play their four matches in quick succession but, after a nil-nil draw with Ambleside, they comfortably defeated Glaxo and Keswick before getting the better of previously unbeaten Wigton in a fascinating contest.
Wigton had the consolation of second place with the promising Amble-side squad, who improved with nearly every game, third.
