Kendal..............................3 Timperley 3rd...................0.
THREE unanswered goals against visitors Timperley gave Kendal the club's first win since October in North West Division Five (North).
Heavy overnight rain had threatened the fixture but some of Kendal's players swept off the standing water and made the pitch playable.
The home side began quite confidently and attacking players found plenty of space to run into and generate chances.
In fact, Kendal could have been several goals to the good by half-time but only took the lead when Russ Miller struck the ball sweetly across the area and into the far corner of the goal.
The situation at the break, 1-0 ahead, was familiar to Kendal but in their three previous matches they had failed to score, conceded goals and lost. This time it was different.
Kendal reorganised slightly but continued to press and first striker Dave Elleray then winger Mark Addison notched up a goal each.
The result moved Kendal one position up the table towards safety from relegation and tomorrow's fixture (Saturday) against Leyland Foxes offers the chance to climb a further place Windermere.....................1 Lytham St Anne's 4th.....4 THE wheels on Windermere's NW division 9 title bid showed distinctive signs of wobbling on Saturday with a decisive 1-4 defeat at the hands of Lytham 4ths at Troutbeck Bridge.
There were few signs things to come as Windermere, chasing their third successive win, took an early lead through a determined Mike Hodgson who, having worked his own opening, gave the Lytham goalkeeper no chance with a well-directed shot.
Even a defensive lapse, that allowed Lytham back on terms before half-time, looked like a temporary blip, but as Windermere pressed for more goals they were clinically caught on the break three times and found themselves well beaten.
On the plus side Windermere had 60 per cent of the game and forced short corner after short corner. But, on the minus side, they could not turn that superiority into goals.
Windermere now drop to second place behind Lytham 5ths and probably need to win all their remaining matches to claim their division title.
n In Divison Two Glaxo 1st were held to a 2-2 home draw by Alderley Edge 2nd, while in Division Six (North)
Glaxo 2nd lost 9-0 away to Northern 2nd.
