Kendal............................10 Dalston.............................1 CONFIDENT Kendal Ladies rattled their way into double figures for a 10-1 home win over Dalston in their latest Cumbria League match.
Hat-tricks came from Andrea Elvey and Vicky Jones as a solid midfield meant that the Kendal forwards were supplied with abundant opportunities in front of goal.
Jones struck again with a reverse-stick effort and although Dalston countered with a strong spell, Kendal went further ahead through Sarah Brooks, beating the keeper in a one-on-one before the visitors grabbed a goal back.
Elvey bagged her first two goals either side of half time to restore Kendal's supremacy, finishing off a good passing movement and then dispatching Sarah Brook's pass from a short corner to beat the keeper by the post.
Nicky Jones added to the tally with a superb strike and Claire Howarth, pushing up from defence, contributed a well-worked solo effort.
Elvey completed her hat-trick and further goals came from Louise Whiteley with a spectacular finish off a post re-bound and Vicky Jones, whose stinging shot bounced off the backboard.
Nicky Jones scored her second to make it 10 for Kendal, with good performances from Jo Inman, Julia Nuthall and Nicola Martindale.
Ambleside........................1 Netherhall.........................1 AMBLESIDE Ladies had to settle for a 1-1 home draw from a keenly contested Cumbria League match on Sunday. In a sluggish start, Ambleside survived an early onslaught before creating several promising breakaways only to be denied by Netherhall's agile keeper.
The deadlock lasted until 15 minutes into the second half when Ambleside went ahead following a passing movement from a penalty corner.
Louise Hartley's initial shot was saved but the rebound came back and she put away the second chance with a deft flick.
With three minutes remaining, Netherhall broke down the right wing, and although the winger appeared to control the ball with her feet, play continued and the ball ended up in the Ambleside net.
Netherhall probably felt a draw was justified overall, but their keeper was kept on her toes while Ambleside's defence was never stretched with strong performances from Sheelagh Newell, Lauren Belk and Lucy Chorley.
Windermere.....................1 Ulverston.........................3 WINDERMERE played host to Ulverston on Sunday for their Cumbria League fixture and went down 3-1 The adverse weather conditions made it hard for both sides and Ulverston were first to settle, Rachel Smith scoring an early goal from a short corner and then having a chance of a second from a penalty-flick, which Rosemary Wadmore saved well.
Windermere finally found their stride, making several surges forward, with Carole and Layla Quill linking well.
From one such attack, Helen Telford equalised after a cross into the D from Layla Quill.
The second half saw Windermere string together several attacking moves with Shona Taylor, Cath Mussetti, Helen Parsons and Jane Jackson supporting well in the midfield.
Ulverston continued to counter-attack but their attempts were competently dealt with by Windermere's defence of Phillipa Jones, Nicola Maloney and Fiona Wood.
Despite this ability to deal with Ulverston's pressure during open play, two more goals were converted to their tally as a result of short corners.
Danni Haynes, outstanding for her side, struck home Ulverston's second and then Rachel Smith added the third for a 3-1 lead in a determined team effort, with Sue Hool battling hard in midfield and junior Abi Rodgers impressing on the left wing.
Windermere.....................1 Netherhall.........................2 WINDERMERE lost 2-1 to Netherhall the previous Sunday, going ahead against the run of play.
Meeting a hard-hit free hit out of Netherhall's half, Fiona Inglis deflected the ball into the path of Helen Telford, who fired home.
Netherhall equalised before half time, however, and despite Windermere's positive play afterwards which saw Sarah Whitehead and Katie Hoyle running at the defence, the visitors scored a winner.
Ulverston's Carolyn Metcalfe was voted player of the match in a 4-0 defeat of Kirkby Stephen in the Netherwood League 24 hours later on Sunday.
