Kendal 1 - Barrow 1...

A SUPERB exhibition by the Barrow goalkeeper restricted in-form Kendal to a 1-1 draw in the Cumbria League.

Early shots form Kendal's Vicky Jones and Sarah Brooks were well-saved, but there seemed to be no problem when Jones buried a superb reverse-stick shot to put Kendal ahead after 10 minutes.

Hard work in midfield allowed Kendal to dominate, but the strong and skilful Barrow forwards caught them on the back foot to score an equaliser before half-time.

The majority of the second half was spent attacking the Barrow goal, but try as they might Kendal could not find a way past the keeper, who gave an outstanding performance to keep her side in the game.

There were solid performances from Sarah Dent and Jo Martin, while Ashley Coulson did some exceptional defending.

Up front there was good attack work from Kirsty Ormerod and Nicky Jones but to their frustration, the winning goal would not come.

Dalston 4 - Ulverston 4...

ULVERSTON went to Dalston in the Cumbria League still looking for their first win, but had to be content with a 4-4 draw.

An early Ulverston goal came when Penrith failed to clear Rachel Smith's long corner and Lynn Fitzwilliam fired in and they went 2-0 up from a well-worked short corner, Kate Wright laying-off the ball for Danni Haynes to slam into the corner.

A period of good Ulverston possession ended in defensive confusion, however, and Penrith pulled a goal back and, upping their game, scored again quickly and then went 3-2 ahead.

Another short-corner supplied Ulverston's third goal, Wright setting up Smith this time to finish and Ulverston restored their lead when Niki Satterthwaite made it 4-3.

The comeback was not be a winning one as Penrith added a fourth goal to salvage the draw.

Ambleside 3 - Keswick 0...

UNBEATEN Ambleside Ladies added winning points to their Cumbria League haul at the weekend without picking up a stick.

Because Keswick cancelled the scheduled fixture between the sides, Ambleside take the points as a 3-0 win under the rules.

Incidentally, Ambleside are definitely on first-name terms with each other and for a good reason as the present side has a number of members of various families in the squad.

Janet Faulkner and her sister-in-law Amanda play alongside Janet's twin Susan Conway and Susan's daughter Nicola. Lauren Wright and her sister Ailsa are in the squad along with and Amy Kitching and her twin sister Marie.

Meanwhile, Gill Bland and her twin daughters Abby and Bryoni also play for the team.
