A SOLID performance in the first away fixture in the North West Division Five (North) gave Kendal a resounding victory over Preston side Springfields.
Springfields 1 - Kendal Men 3.
The scoreline flattered the opposition, who only entered Kendal's area twice in the first half and had few shots all game.
Kendal took with lead towards the end of the first half, with a swift break and a sharp first-time shot from centre-forward Barclay, which crashed on to the backboard under a diving goalkeeper.
Their lead was doubled when a short corner routine saw the ball bobble through to Bloxham at the far post, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
Kendal's movement and, above all, their one and two-touch passing gave them dominance in the midfield, with Elleray's surging runs from sweeper leaving Springfields chasing shadows.
Springfields clawed a goal back in the second half, but Kendal held their nerve and scored again when Galloway tapped in from close range as he fell over.
Brooklands 7.................0 Windermere Men..........5 WINDERMERE Men travelled to Manchester on Saturday to play Brooklands 7 in the North West Hockey League and won impressively.
A promising start from well-organised Windermere led to super goals from Sam Crompton (2), Ed Waterhouse (1) and Steve Heyns (1).
A solid back line consisting of Richard Belk, Mark Kendrick and Graham Spiby worked hard to distribute an array of superb passes which in turn allowed the rest of the squad to make life difficult for the home side.
The second half saw another sweet goal for new member Scott Santemara who jinked through the defence and placed it beautifully into the back of the net.
It was another pleasing result for newly-promoted Windermere.
Windermere SA............1 West Cumbria...............3 AFTER conceding an early goal from the visitors, Windermere Sunday Association fought back to level the game with a John Parry strike after good work by Jack Jamieson on the wing.
West Cumbria scored another two goals despite solid defence from Dave Spiby, Paul Taylor and Dominic Quill.
Juniors Peter Simm, Matt Dawson, Steven Dunlop, Jamieson and Spiby all made excellent first impressions in a mixed age group team.
