IN THEIR second Cumbria League fixture of the season Ambleside broke the deadlock after five minutes when centre-forward Lauren Wright poked a rebound past the goalie from close range.

Ambleside may have thought this would be the start of a goal rush, but the keeper made some magnificent saves from close-range shots and flicks. Both teams enjoyed attacks but Ambleside remained 1-0 ahead at half-time.
In the second half both teams forced fine saves, but Ambleside's attacks were more rewarding as they added three goals from Lauren Wright, Nicola Conway and Janet Faulkner. Wright and Conway linked together well through-out.
Glaxo.............................1 Windermere .................6 WINDERMERE'S Cumbria League squad travelled to Ulverston on Sunday and emerged with a 6-1 win.
A promising start from a creative Windermere resulted in an early goal from Helen Telford, who swept a good cross into the back of the net.
Solid defending from Alison Spiby, Fiona Woods and Louise Cooper allowed the midfield to supply the forwards with well-timed passes, which allowed Katie Hoyle to tap in a second goal.
The second half saw defensive player Helen Parsons taking on the Glaxo defence with a superb run down the wing and both Jane Jackson and Karen Oliver found Carole Quill with well-weighted passes, leading to Quill jinking through to score a magnificent solo goal.
Quill added two more goals, from well-taken short corners, then claimed her fourth by slamming home a great pass by Jane Jackson from the top of the D. Glaxo battled away and never gave up scoring a late consolation goal.
Kendal ..........................5 Ulverston.......................0 KENDAL were determined to keep their place at the top of the Cumbria League and it showed.
A strong start created the openings and an inevitable first goal came from Vicky Jones. Accurate passing kept Kendal in the Ulverston half and a strong attack saw Jones again beat the keeper.
Kendal knew that if the visitors were given a chance, they would make the most of it, so teamwork was the order of the day. Even so, with Kate Wright working hard in midfield Ulverston created chances and Kendal keeper Holly Price had one or two essential saves to make.
Kendal had several near-misses from short-corner routines, but Vicky Jones completed her hat-trick and Sarah Dent added another to make it 4-0 A disputed penalty flick, which Ulverston belived should have been a penalty corner allowed Julie Ashworth to score the fifth ten minutes from time.
