MARGE Munday scored a fine hat-trick to seal a 5-1 win for Ambleside and lift them to third in the Cumbria League.

Windermere took first blood midway through the first half with a strong counter-attack finished by Chelsy Daley to put them 1-0 up.

Ambleside pressed hard and it eventually paid off with Munday coolly converting an accurate cross from the wing to level the scores.

When the Windermere keeper only cleared an Amanda Faulkner shot into Munday's path, she netted her second with a deft shot to give Ambleside a 2-1 half-time lead.

Windermere had a number of early chances in the second half, but Ambleside keeper Caz Cropper made important saves and a third goal for the visitors followed.

A slick move started with Val Nicholls' sideline ball directed to Nicola Conway, who found Faulkner in the D to place a shot into the corner after a one-on-one with the keeper.

Munday then linked Helen Barber, who rounded the last defender for a first-time strike that sailed past the keeper to make it 4-1.

Ambleside's fifth came from a short-corner. Faulkner's initial shot was saved, but player of the match Munday was well positioned for another strong strike right on the final whistle.
