Cockermouth Ladies 1 - Ulverston Ladies 2...

ULVERSTON were away to Cockermouth on Sunday and won 2-1. Good approach work from Vicky weeks and Sally Broom ended in Fitzwilliam scoring and Portia Hebbert swiftly added a second.

Ambleside Ladies 2 - Barrow Ladies 0...

AMANDA Faulkner, making a welcome return from retirement, skillfully flicked a shot over the prone keeper to give Ambleside Ladies the lead against Barrow Ladies in a Cumbria League match on the Cinder Ovens pitch.

A post denied a Helen Barber shot and although Barrow challenged well in the second half, Ambleside's back four of Val Nicholls, Janet Faulkner, Gemma Crowther and Ailsa Wright cleared their lines well.

Ambleside pressure earned a second goal when Sue Conway made a fine run before her defence-splitting cross found Barber, who applied a deft finish.

An ankle injury sidelined Barrow playmaker Helene Burrows, but Ambleside were unable to capitalise further as they had to be content with a 2-0 win.

Alex Beech had a fine performance on only her second senior outing.
