Kendal Ladies 1-3 Loughborough Students
KENDAL let slip a one-goal half-time lead slip as Loughborough Students claimed the points by hitting the back of the net three times in the second-half at Kirkbie Kendal School.
The home side came out strong in what was a tough end-to-end battle early on.
Loughborough were awarded several penalty corners but the Kendal defence were well drilled and managed to prevent any goals
The visitors were then awarded a penalty stroke which Fiona Battersby saved.
And that save was crucial when Kendal took the lead through Vicky Jones after good work by Alice Clew-Smith before the break.
The Kendal defence were put under immense pressure early on but Emma Woodbury and Melanie Whalley stood firm until Loughborough finally broke through.
Two further goals in the half condemned Kendal to their fifth defeat of the season.
"We were hoping to get more from the game but it just wasn’t happening for us on Saturday," said Battersby.
The league now takes a winter break with Kendal not playing until early February.
