Whitley Bay and Tynemouth 1 - 1 Kendal Ladies
AN EARLY Vicky Jones strike helped Kendal Ladies hockey team take a point away from Whitley Bay and Tynemouth to remain unbeaten in the last three games.
Kendal had a few key players missing but went out hard and attacked well from the start.
Their early efforts paid off with a goal from Jones after just six minutes before the away side controlled the game until half-time.
Kendal's defence held on throughout the second-half but several short corners were given to the opposition and they were finally breached with just two minutes left on the clock.
Skipper Fiona Battersby was happy with the point but gutted her team did not claim all three.
"We defended exceptionally well with some fantastic defensive work from Laura Morris," she said. "We played really well and it feels like things are coming together now. Our confidence has grown and we are working well as a unit. In our last three games we’ve had two draws and one win which is evidence that things are picking up. Our next game is at home to Durham and we will definitely be looking to take three points."
