I WON’T let the lads throw in the towel and they owe it to themselves, the fans and everyone associated with the club to keep going and try to get as many points as possible to finish as high in the league as we can.
When we get the ball down and get it to the strikers, they look after it and it makes us a better side.
There is no pressure on us, with just FC United of Manchester and Bradford Park Avenue putting good runs together.
If a team is to get into the play-offs from the pack I think it can be us.
Saturday’s game should have been put to bed early on. It wasn’t and we gave Whitby a bit of a lifeline and that has been a problem for us this season.
Alex Taylor went off at half time but we will get him back to full strength over the summer. There are 25-30 goals in him and I am sure he will get back to that form soon.
Shaun Gray has been a real leader for us. He has won this league before and that is why he is our captain. He has been outstanding at this club and will be missed if he leaves in the summer.
Unfortunately Danny Wisdom picked up a knock on his knee but he has been brilliant in the centre of the park and I know he enjoys playing in that position.
We gave the ball away in silly areas and made the Whitby game a hard-fought one but we can grind out results now.
Having played at Cannon Park against Retford United three weeks ago we knew the pitch would be bobbly for the Worksop game but everyone put a shift in and in my eyes they all deserved to be man of the match.
It was a big ask against a physical outfit but we have a very good side and stood up to it on Monday.
Keeper Tom Newton’s kicking was superb in both games this week and it was a credit to him and goalkeeping coach James Nicholl that he is a better player than when he joined us.
He is keeping his feet on the ground and has been patient, but is doing really well and has certainly improved his game.
