After Saturday’s loss at Retford I knew the lads needed a performance against Marine and it was one we knew they had in them.
The three points also mean we are still in with a fight for a play off place.
I told the lads that in 22 years of football I was an embarrassed man on Saturday.
I told them I wanted an improvement for those people who travelled to Retford, for me and for themselves and we got that on Tuesday night.
The lads worked so well against Marine and every time they lost the ball they would race to get back behind it and the defence was good and our shape was right.
The lads are bouncing in the dressing room and Gary McEvatt has come in as a little livewire. We have a quiet bunch of lads and a young group but confidence breeds success and we need another win on Saturday.
Gary hasn’t played for five weeks and he will get better and sharper but every time the ball was at his feet on Tuesday he looked dangerous and he turned on the ball.
Hopefully when we get him on the training ground he can become the player I think he can be for Kendal.
The result from Saturday goes out the window now and we go on and hopefully take the points against Halifax.
If we are not to get up this season then we will try again next year. We have had two good years were we have been very close and I have tried to change things around a bit.
I have brought new players in to freshen things up and whether that was right or wrong I don’t know yet but we will get better as the seasons go on and hopefully next year - whichever league we are in - we will have a good go at it.
