Saturday was a fantastic three points and I said to the players before the game it was a cup final and I thought from minute one we were outstanding.
We passed the ball as well as we did against Ashton last week and I was pleased with the overall performance.
We had to continue where we left off and in the first half we put some good crosses in and Ciaran Donnelly was absolutely outstanding – he is getting better in every game he plays and it was a great cross for Dave Foster’s goal.
Danny Williams has pace to burn and I think the right back was scared to death of of him. We couldn’t get the ball out to him nearly enough but he had a superb game. Dave Foster is a goalscorer and if the ball falls to him in the six yard box you can rely on him to put it away.
On Tuesday I thought we did alright in the first half and created three or four chances, which on another day we would have taken more of them.
We never got going in the second half and there was some awful defending for the first goal. The second goal was never going to be stopped but I was disappointed with the way we conceded with some slack marking.
We were playing on a narrow pitch at Marine and we had to change our system but it will be a different story when they come to us as we will be able to get our wingers involved.
It was good to get Danny Wisdom a good run out as he recovers from a back injury.
We thought he would be out for the season and while he wouldn’t get through 90 minutes yet we will get him back in the frame soon.
