I’M certainly getting greyer by the game at the minute and Ossett was no different.
At 3-3 I would have settled for a draw, but we seemed to have turned it around when we went 5-3 up, only for them to come back at us again.
We were keeping the ball well at 5-3 and they scored to make it 5-4 but we did well to see it off and drag the good result out.
We always struggle against Ossett and Burscough, but now we have beaten them both in the space of six games and it is another win for us at home, where we have been a bit dodgy this season.
I told the lads they couldn’t just expect to turn up and win because Ossett were second bottom and their 4-1 win at the weekend told us they would be a threat.
We have slipped up against teams at the bottom of the table before but we were fantastic, especially in the last few minutes to see the game through.
People might have thought I was mad when I put Rory Winters up front, but he did well and the lads likened him to Nemanja Vidic for his goals.
David Newnes’ thigh injury was slightly better and he was coping OK for a while until we started giving him backpasses.
I had told the lads to just kick it out for a throw but David did OK and when Tom [Newton] replaced him he was also bright.
