WE know the snow is going to come but the question is how long it is here for. We are doing our best to get the game on at the weekend as we need to get back to winning ways.
We have got some of the snow off and we had volunteers down with shovels on Wednesday evening to clear the terraces.
It is not just a case of winning games that we need to play though, we just don’t want the backlog we had last season - where we ended up playing 11 games in April.
We are also trying to bring some players in to the club.
I am sure there is more wheeling and dealing to be done and hopefully we will have some new faces in for the next time we kick a ball.
I gave the lads Saturday off last week but we had an intense training session on Tuesday night and we will have another one tonight (Thursday).
We have brought in Chris Ward from Lancaster who offers experience in midfield.
He is great in the dressing room, had a great debut against Alfreton and I’m sure he will get better with fitness.
On the injury front we only have Carl Osman out with a sore knee at the minute but hopefully he will be ready to play soon and Alex [Taylor] trained really well on Tuesday, despite his battle with a hernia.
The game against Matlock is going to be a hard one, as the two Trophy games earlier in the season against them showed.
There is nothing between the sides and with them travelling a long way we will be aiming to get into them early in the game. The side that plays better on the day will take the three points though.
If the game is off on Saturday the lads will still have a training session at Parkside Road and we will probably take them off for a run.
