WE were back on a good pitch against Lancaster City in the UniBond Cup on Tuesday and we have some good footballers in the side and it showed.
It was an important match after Saturday at Matlock. We went there to play football and to keep the ball on the floor, but on a quagmire like that it was impossible.
We are used to playing a certain way and it proved difficult at the weekend.
On Tuesday night we had some great performances and if we have Lee Mulvaney and Carl Osman playing in the form they showed against Lancaster, we will be up there at the end of April.
I got a run-out myself and it's good to play. It is difficult to play and manage, especially with Ian [Kilford] on the pitch too.
I have been doing a bit of work away from football to get fit and it is always instructive if the manager can get on for the last 15 minutes.
We were under some pressure when I went on but we seemed to stroll it by the end.
We have another big game back in the league against North Ferriby United on Saturday.
We have some games in hand but as I keep saying, we need to win them.
We have a few games coming up and none of them are easy but hopefully in a month’s time we will have results under our belt and will be back in the mix.
David Newnes suffered a dead leg on Tuesday but should be fine after rest and Paul Byrne is 50/50 for Saturday.
