We played some good stuff for the first half and tired towards the end but we played really well overall on Saturday.
It was a massive game against a top side in Guiseley and as I have said before they are one we want to be above at the end of the season.
We are that far behind on games and people keep telling me we will be top if we win them, but the games are there to be won.
They are the bread and butter at the minute but it was great to get the three points.
It was getting cagey towards the end but we defended really well and Rory [Winters] and Glenn [Steel] were fantastic.
I do rate our keeper as the best in the league and he has enjoyed playing for me. I just hope he [David Newnes] won’t be out for too long.
I went to see Ben [Hinchliffe] who is just in a different league and he might feature straight away.
We have started well this month and next up we have another title favourite. Every game is tough, it is a hard league and I think anyone, apart from Durham City, can beat each other.
I thought Andy Bell gelled well with Alex [Taylor] and he has won the league before.
He had a fantastic debut and there are goals in him. I am looking forward to them working together.
The lads know Alex as the blue eyed boy but it would be nice for them to get a partnership going.
We also have Lee Mulvaney, Ryan Salmon and Dave Foster all battling for games while Callum [Warburton] did great.
It was also good to see a spark back in Osman’s play while Walsmley and Warren [Beattie] lived up to expectation.
I haven’t seen Retford play this season but I will be doing my homework before the match.
We then have two big games against FC United of Manchester, one in the cup.
We won there 3-1 last season and it was my best performance as a manager, so if we can improve on that it should be great.
If we can go on a 10 game unbeaten run and get some form going it could make our season.
Last season we were stopped by frozen pitches and not being able to play for 4-5 weeks at a time and dropped to 11th.
We need a good run to Christmas and then build from there.
We will always create chances and I am sure there is a hammering building for someone.
