SETTLE runners packed well in what is likely to be the last ever running of the Candlelighters Kelbrook Fell Race on Sunday.
Organiser Barry Slater, of Giggleswick, has decided to call it a day after eight years in which the event has raised over £20,000 for Candlelighters, the charity connected to St James's Hospital in Leeds.
Adrian Pickles, Mark McGoldrick, Dave Horsfall and John Murfin placed 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th in this three-and-a-half mile out and back race.
First U17 runner was Helm Hill's Tom Addison, 15, who finished fifth in the senior race, with last year's race winner Chris Waters, of Ambleside, eighth.
The first lady was Giggleswick's Claire Lilley (29-13) 37th overall and first U17, with Clayton's Vanessa Peacock just one place and four seconds adrift.
Helm Hill's Rory Addison won the U12 race and his brother, Jos, came home first in the U14 event with Settle's Matthew Cardus third. Ingleton's Melanie Morphet was second girl in the U12 event and Settle's Amy Fretwell was second in the U14 girls' race.
