AMBLESIDE Athletic Club Ladies pulled out all the stops at the 27th annual Ian Hodgson Mountain Relay to take the win for the second year running.
The team of Michelle Foxwell, Hazel Robinson, Astrid Gibbs, Jane Reedy, Annie Conway, Lou Roberts, Steph Jones and Rebecca Sheffield led for three out of the four legs in tough conditions to finish 16 minutes ahead of the next placed team, Dark Peak.
The result is the latest in what has been a glowing season for the team.
They won the women's open team competition in both the British and English Fell Racing Championships this year for the second time and the team will run again on October 19 at the British Athletics Fell and Hill Relay Championships near Barbon, where they finished second last year.
The race was won by Borrowdale, who finished 3:23 ahead of Calder Valley. Ambleside men's team finished in fifth place while the club's veteran team finished third. Kendal-based Helm Hill men's finished 12th.
