SUCCESS in the heats this morning wasn't transferred into the final as Tom Young finished fifth in the 4x100m medley relay with Paralympic GB.
In his final swim at the Paralympics he was left with too much to do as he began the freestyle leg of the swim detached in fifth place.
He tried to claw the gap between himself and the front four back but it proved a task too tall and the Newbiggin swimmer helped his team clock a time of 4.20.54.
China broke the world record to claim gold in 4.09.04, just four hundredths of a second ahead of Russia.
Paralympic GB had won their heat at lunchtime to qualify for the final in lane four, but they weren't good enough to make the podium.
