THOMAS Young has added a bronze medal to his gold at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Berlin this afternoon, Tuesday.
Young, 19, from Newbiggin, came home third behind countrymen Sam and Oliver Hynd in the 400m freestyle event just 24 hours after claiming gold in the 100m breaststroke.
Young had a difficult first half of the race where he was battling Germany's Christoph Burkard for third spot, but after shaking him off Young was pipped to silver by Oliver Hynd by just 0.54 seconds as he finished in 4.32.70.
He now has two days off competition before he returns to the pool on Friday for the 100m freestyle before rounding off the championships in the 200m individual medley on Saturday.
