SWIMMER Thomas Young has taken a gold medal at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Berlin.
Young, 19, topped the podium in the men's 100m breastroke final (SB7), in his last major international competition before next year's Paralympics.
The Newbiggin swimmer, who trains in Manchester, was 0.97 seconds clear of Iaroslav Semenenko of the Ukraine to claim gold.
On Sunday, Young was fourth in the 100m backstroke, but he will be aiming to add to his gold medal tally in the 400m freestyle on Tuesday.
On Friday he will enter the 100m freestyle before rounding off the championships in the 200m individual medley on Saturday.
