WATER polo star Glen Robinson has made a super start to his season with Rapid Bucharest in the Hungarian Water Polo League.
Robinson has helped his side to four wins from eight matches, scoring 15 goals as he progresses his own game.
He said: “It is a very different style of game out here. Its much more physical over here so the games generally get quite heated, but its good for me to experience all sides and styles of the game.
“The league is of a very high standard with most of the Romanian national team players competing in it as well as top class Hungarian and Serbian players, so the level of the sport over here is very high.”
Towards the end of November Robinson was part of the Great Britain team which lost to Georgia in a European qualifying match in Manchester.
He added: “We were very disappointed in ourselves but learnt and took away a lot from the game. I have also played Greece in Manchester which was a very good experience where we had a solid performance against one of the best teams in the world.”
And the experience is all helpful to Robinson as he bids to be part of the Great British team for the London Olympics in 18 months time.
“All in all everything is going in the right direction and I am becoming more experienced and a much better player for all the hard work that has been put in.
“My family are very supportive and are always asking how I am doing. They are a great inspiration and the best way I can repay them for all their sacrifices is to be in the London 2012 Olympics, which is looking promising.”
