CUMBRIA 1 sought to avenge a heavy defeat at the hands of Nottingham 2 in the Inter-County Championships at Carlisle.
It start well for the hosts with Rae Lamour and Jackie Sewell ensuring it was 2-2 after the singles .
Although Cumbria won only once the opening part of the doubles, the crossover spoils were shared with victories for Louise Jackson/Nicola Highmore and Ben Davidson/John Parkinson.
Trailing at 7-3, Cumbria knew they had to win all of the mixed for overall victory or one victory for a consolation point.
A valiant effort was made by Malcolm Grayson/Rae Lamour to go to three sets, but all the games were lost to give Nottingham a 10-5 victory.
