MIDFIELDER Danny Rowe is poised to join Fleetwood Town after several months with Kendal Town.

Town signed the impressive 21-year-old in the summer from West Lancashire league outfit Blackpool Wren Rovers and he has ably adapted to the higher level football.

His starring performances with Kendal in the Evo-Stik Premier League have not gone unnoticed by league scouts, with Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Swindon Town all thought to have watched him.

And now Blue Square Premier side Fleetwood, who sit on the edge of the play-offs to the Football League, have tabled a bid for Rowe, 21, with his move being subject to a medical today, Thursday.

Kendal manager Lee Ashcroft said: “We have had an offer for Danny. We don’t want to lose him and we will certainly miss him if he moves on but we are not a million miles from sorting a deal out.

“It will be good for us as a club and for my CV as a manager for bringing him up from three divisions lower.

“I am happy with the deal but it will be a massive loss to us as he has been our star man in the last five or six weeks.”

Rowe has bagged nine goals for Town this season, having already scored seven for Rovers before signing. In his two previous seasons with Rovers he banged in 56 goals in 64 games, a great record at any level.

But some good news for Town fans is that Ashcroft expects young defender Jordan Tucker to sign a contract with the club on December 18, having graduated from Liverpool FC’s academy in the summer.

Ashcroft added: “Jordan has a lot to give and already Birmingham and Fulham are keen on him. Once he signs a contract the fans will definitely see more from him. He is still only a baby really when you think of the average age of Evo-Stik players and we will continue to look after him as he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Kendal Town are hoping to play Stocksbridge Park Steels in Sheffield on Saturday after their last two fixtures were postponed due to snow and icy conditions.
