KENDAL side Ibis went top in Division 1 of the Kendal and District League with a 10-0 drubbing of Crook B.

John Wood came close to avoiding the whitewash for Crook, but he was shaded out 11-8 in a fifth-set marathon duel with Trevor Nicholson.

This was the only blip in a near faultless performance as James McGrath and Steve Dixon were once again in superb form for Ibis.

Dallam A and Natland B were involved in an epic 5-5 draw. Craig James and Jonathan Hyman scored two wins apiece for Dallam, while Matt Neal chipped in with an 11-8 success in the fifth set against Clyde Johnson.

Natland’s points came courtesy of a brace of wins for Luke Biggins and Roger Pimblett.

Reigning champions Glaxo A scored a 7-3 victory against Burton A. Tom Smith and Grant Woodhouse were unstoppable for Ulverston with a hat-trick of wins apiece, while Keith Dymond earned a solitary point with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 victory against Chris Knowles.

Burton’s points came from Julie Stitch and Graham Coupe’s 3-1 and 3-2 sets victories against Dymond.

Glaxo B’s cracking form continued, as they defeated Natland C 7-3. Tony Whitehouse was the man of the match with three wins.

He was supported ably by Keith Mallinson and Les Shaw with two wins apiece.

Bernard Pickthall and Louise Thompson spared Natland’s blushes with victories.

In Division 2, Burton D shaded a thriller with Dallam D 6-4. Chris Jones secured three victories,with team-mate Frank Lee winning twice.

Kirkby Stephen A’s form is picking up judged on an 8-2 victory against Burton E. Gerry Baines and Dave White remained unbeaten, while Matthew Pickering and Peter Hunt got Burton on the scoresheet.

In Division 3, a young Dallam E side swept beyond Grayrigg 24-15 and Burton G demolished their F team 28-9.
