TWO sporting stars from Kendal have received a fundings boost as they aim to reach the top of their sports.
Water polo star Glen Robinson, 21, and skiier Kelly Greenbank, 13, were presented with £500 each from Cumbria’s Olympic Steering Group chairman Coun Brendan Jameson from the Cumbria Talented Athletes Fund.
The fund was set up by the Cumbria Sport Partnership, Cumbria County Council, South Lakeland District Council and Allerdale Borough Council to give those athletes aiming to reach the 2012 Olympics in London support from the area.
Glen has just returned from Australia where he has been improving his game playing for Adelaide Jets and is preparing to set off for the European A Waterpolo Championship qualifiers in Romania with Team GB.
Kelly, a pupil at Queen Katherine School, Kendal, has also enjoyed a successful season and recently came back from Andorra with the Team GB Children’s Skiing Team, where she finished 11th overall and top British finisher.
