Kendal Town 2, Belper Town 2.
Two goals up after 23 minutes Kendal looked odds on favourites to run away with this UniBond League First Division match against lowly Belper, but two set piece goals let the visitors back in and in the final 20 minutes the game could have gone either way.
David Foster's glancing header from Ian Kilford's cross gave Town a seventh minute lead and Kilford also supplied the second. His square pass put right winger Peter Smith clear and he drove the ball into the right hand corner of the net.
Six minutes later a free-kick 30 yards out from the Kendal goal saw Joe Carter unleash an unstoppable drive to put Belper back in the game.
Fourteen minutes into the second half another Carter blast from a free-kick inches outside the area brought a fine initial stop from diving keeper James Salisbury, but the rebound fell to Kelvin Mushambi who raced in unmarked to net the equaliser.
Although Kendal looked the slicker side they missed top scorer Lee Ashcroft (suspended for one match) and it was Salisbury who was the busier of the two keepers over the final half-hour.
Town will need to improve if they are to deal with UniBond Premier Division side Radcliffe Borough in their Lancashire Cup clash at Parkside on Tuesday evening.
