KENDAL senior karate instructor Lee Wilson has achieved the rank of 4th Dan black belt with the Chojinkai Karate Association.
Wilson started karate in January 1986 at the Kendal club and went on to compete at kumite (fighting) at local, national and international level, representing England in the same team as former world champion Tim Stephens in Belgium, where he won silver in the team event.
He went on to appear in nine-times world champion Wayne Otto's video series 'Born to be King.' In 2,000 he won the GB Association's men's senior heavyweight title.
With fellow instructor Mark Holding he runs the Chojinkai Kumite squad, coaching and training the team at all levels.
The 4th Dan is an honorary grade recognising his continued and consistent contribution to the development and operation of the association and it has been validated and confirmed with Karate England, the new unified governing body of karate recognised by Sport England.
