STRIKES by Graham Jackson and Craig Turner earned Grange a place in the third round of the Adam and Gaskell Senior Cup.
The goal of the game, however, was a 30-yard drive by Bolton-le-Sands' Daniel Shepherd.
Sands pressed for a late equaliser, but Grange who are improving after a poor start to the season held on for a deserved 2-1 victory.
Chris Vincent stabbed the ball home from a corner in the first minute of Kirkby Lonsdale's second-round tie with Morecambe Royals, but it was to no avail as Jonathon Byers equalised and Garth Holmes added a winner for Royals in a pulsating match.
Cartmel Reserves played exceptionally well to beat a strong Penrith Rangers side 2-0 in the Westmorland Junior Cup. Chris Huitson opened the scoring then relentless Cartmel pressure forced a Penrith own goal.
Holme Athletic had a fruitless 100-mile round trip to Kirkoswald in the Junior Cup where they were crushed 7-0.
In the Premier Division, Ingleton's brief revival was snuffed out with a 5-1 defeat by league leaders Marsh United. Veteran Chis Bibby scored for disjointed Ingleton, who remain second bottom.
Cartmel bounced back from recent indifferent results with a 3-0 away win at City Contract Services thanks to Dean Richards, Phil Gillette and John Lord.
Second Division leaders Swarthmoor SC lost their tag as the last unbeaten side in the league when they lost 1-0 to second-placed Galgate. Both sides had chances, but Tom Gammon was the only one on target. Galgate's Chris Haslam missed a penalty.
Ingleton Reserves and Bentham battled out a 2-2 draw in their derby clash. Tommy Murray and Jack Bland netted for Ingleton and Andy Ideson and Gary Louth for Bentham.
Burton Thistle were no match for third-placed Storeys Reserves, who had five different scorers in their 5-1 victory. All five goals were in the bag before Richard Gott netted for shell-shocked Thistle.
Arnside gained a rare point in a 1-1 draw with Community Sports. Bottom club Arnside should have taken all three points for they hit the woodwork four times before young John Matthews equalised in the 80th minute.
Ian Palwanker and Steve Jackson scored for Slyne-Hest Reserves in victory over resilient Millhead who fought without success for an equaliser after Dominic Wooff had pulled the score back to 2-1.
Second Division pacesetters Carnforth Rangers stretched their lead to six points with a 7-0 annihilation of Torrisholme Reserves. Geoff Crossley led the way with a hat-trick and other goalscorers were Ryan Hartley (2), Matty Greenwood and Andy Taylor.
Allithwaite Rangers fielded six reserves for their second division clash with Marsh United Reserves and one of them, Scott Duncanson, revelled in his promotion by knocking in two goals.
Despite the weakened side Allithwaite had hoped to at least repeat their early season 1-1 draw with Marsh, but it was not to be as the Lancaster-based side ran out 5-2 winners.
Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers have now gone nine games without a win, their latest defeat being 6-2 by Morecambe Hoops. Rob Downey and Ismail Saliff scored for Rangers.
Fellow strugglers Arnside Reserves were on the end of a 6-0 beating by promotion hopefuls Trimpell.
In Division Three, Grange Reserves made Boys Club Reserves work hard for their 2-1 victory. It was a game which could easily have gone the other way as Grange had several chances to add to the single goal by Mike Purvis.
Burton Thistle Reserves led Moorlands 2-1 at half-time through veterans Gareth Wilkinson and Paul Johnston, but Thistle turned in a lethargic second-half display and Moorlands ran out convincing 5-2 winners.
In Group Two of the Kelly/Flynn/Cunningham Fourth Division Cup, Furness Rovers hit four goals in the first 10 minutes against Bentham Reserves and eventually ran out 8-3 winners.
Joe Lesh (4), Rob Dawson (3) and Andy McDermott were on target for Furness with Danny Ellershaw, Chris Hodgkinson and Tommi Tatham reply for Bentham.
