MOTORCYCLING: James Ellison put in an impressive test performance on the D'Antin Pramac team's Ducati in Valencia last week, giving a strong hint that he may ride for the team in next year's Moto GP series.
The Kendal rider was only half a second down on the lap time of fastest works Ducati rider Sete Gibernau winner of nine Moto GPs.
After a year on the uncompetitive WCM Blata machine, Ellison said the power of the Ducati was awesome.
D'Antin Pramac are expected to announce their driver line-up during the next week and Ellison is thought to be in competition for the ride with 2005 Yamaha rider Jose Luis Cardoso and the team's existing rider Roby Rolfo.
In Valencia Ellison, a former World Endurance and double European Superstock champion, exactly matched Rolfo's best lap time during his first outing on the bike.
