Fluke goal could be the turning-point SALISBURY'S curiosity-piece goal could be the spur Kendal needed to put the zip back into their season, says manager Tony Hesketh.
"It was absolutely unbelievable, but things like that are sometimes a turning point in your season.
"Mind you I thought we had played some super football up to then and created great chances. I still do not know to this day how we were not three or four goals clear at that stage, but like everyone else in the ground I was thinking it was again not going to be our day.
"Then Salisbury hit the thing miles down the field and it bounced flukily over the keeper. It was a goal we had desperately needed as Saturday was a must win' situation.
"We have cursed our luck, had one or two indifferent performances and confidence has been very low in what is normally a very confident bunch of lads, but they stuck to their guns and have carried on playing football.
"As a result we got the win we needed to keep ourselves in the frame for making the play-offs or better at the end of the season.
"Nigel Taylor's goal was a great strike. We know that Nigel is capable of scoring goals of that quality, but it also showed his determination for the team for a central defender to be popping up in the opposition goalmouth. He took it superbly well.
"After Ashcoft scored the third I thought we could have scored two or three more. Foster had half a chance as did Peter Smith.
"We also came though without additional injuries ahead of this weekend's important trip to Gresley Rovers in Derbyshire.
"Paul Osborne is also ever closer to fitness - probably only a week away.
"Kenny Mayers will be out of action again this week after picking up a groin strain during the first half of the match against Colwyn Bay, but he will return the following week.
"At Gresley we will probably put out the same 14 as on Saturday.
"Kilford has recovered from a flu virus. He thought he was fully fit but I decided to put him on the bench against Goole as he had not trained.
"Dene Whittal-Williamns is also a first-choice player, but he was on the bench as he missed out on training the week before because of traffic congestion.
"So we brought Paul Sparrow back in as he is one of our key players.
"Then we also have resurgent Nigel Taylor, whose form is excellent and whose fitness has now reached a level he has not been at before.
"Gresley have had a good start to their season despite losing the last two and are still well placed in the league, but we will go there intending to get three points."
