A DISAPPOINTING second half-display from Kendal saw them relinquish an 8-0 lead and slump to a fifth successive National League defeat as they lost 23-15.

An Andrew Boardley penalty was the reward after a vibrant 20 minutes which suggested Kendal were capable of recording their first league win.

A spectacular try finished by full-back Simon Mulholland after a great break-out by prop Billy Coxon added another five points 10 minutes before half time.

Kendal never recaptured their zest afterwards.

Tynedale cut the gap with a penalty but then had scrum-half Ed Holmes - brother of Kendal's Gary who was playing at flanker - sent off for an alleged head-butt.

Kendal trailed 13-8 after conceding a try due to a missed tackle and another penalty, and struggled even when Tynedale were down to 13 men after having one of their forwards yellow-carded for persistent spoiling.

Kendal's confidence drained away and they gifted another try to Tynedale, who added a drop-goal to take the match out of reach before Mulholland scored a late consolation try deep in injury time.
