A whirlwind first year in motorcyle racing has led to Kendal's Paul Ainsworth (above) being handed a major opportunity for next season.

His impressive second place overall finish in the F600 Championship has led to an offer of a privateer ride in the National Superstock Cup, which is held alongside the prestigious British Superbike Championship.

In the last round of the F600 at Crofts he finished 4th on his John Wilding Suzuki, doing enough in terrible conditions to secure the points for second overall behind rival Chris Coates.

It was a remarkable finish as Paul missed out on points in one Scottish event because his wife went into labour and they wanted the baby to be born in Kendal. That was, however, a mini-drama that attracted attention and brought him both plaudits and much-needed sponsorship.

In addition he has now been offered the National Superstock chance on the Tony George-prepared Kawaskai ZX10-RR. "I couldn't have done it without the help of Adrian Wilding," said Paul. Now he is seeking sponsorship to help through next season and can be contacted on 97866 498626.
