THE draw for an £800 cricket cup has taken place and Kendal has been given a bye to the second round.
Twenty-five teams will compete for this year's Daniel Thwaites Cumbria Cup and, to reach the final, Kendal face the prospect of tackling fellow Northern League rivals Barrow and cup-holders Whitehaven.
The teams come from the North Lancashire League, the Northern League, the Westmorland League and the Eden Valley League. There will be no representative from the Cumbria League.
The first-round draw is: Barrow v Millom; Furness v Egremont; Wigton v Penrith; Carlisle v Cleator; Ulverston v Whitehaven; Dalton v Keswick; Appleby v Milnthorpe; Lindal v Carnforth; and BAE Barrow v Westgate.
Five teams received first-round byes: Kendal, Warton, Windermere, Haverigg and Edenhall.
The winners of the competition, as well as the £800 first prize, win the Meageen Cup.
