"NOTHING surprises me about Kenny Mayers and our experienced skipper produced two quality goals on his return to ensure the win against Ossett.
"But we have got over one problem and another arrives with left winger Ged Smith out of the side for three weeks.
"He has picked up a suspension for a misdeamenour for his Sunday League team, for whom he has not played since joining us - and that absence is very unfortunate.
"However, we are optimistic that we can inntroduce another player into the squad to compensate for his loss.
"We are looking to get Ian Kilford on loan from Barrow. Ian is 31 and has had 10 years' experience in the first team at Wigan. He joined Barrow this season and had tonsilitis at Christmas, since when he has struggled to get back into the side.
"I've spoken to Barrow manager Lee Turnbull and he's agreed to the deal in principle, so if we can agree terms with the player this week, he can go straight into the side on Saturday.
"Dene Whittall-Williams is back from a one-match suspension and Nigel Taylor may be fit from his ankle injury.
"But the two centre-halves Paul McMenemy and Dave Woodruffe have been oustanding and it would be hard on either of those to lose their place on their showing in the last two matches against Shepshed and Ossett.
"It's a pleasant headache to have and we have a rather healthy numerical look to the squad and at present this pair have shown they are earning their chance on merit.
"It was a good win at Ossett and had it not been for two very dubious penalties given against us, we would have won a lot more handsomely.
"We actually started with Lee Ashcroft and Kenny Mayers as two central midfield players, with Ricky Mercer the holding midfield man in a 4-5-1 formation.
"It worked well but the penalties caused us to change it late on and Kenny pushed further forward and obliged with two superb goals.
"The approach is to go all-out for the win and I don't get very excited about draws as that will mean we won't progress.
"Although we might concede a goal or two in our efforts to score, we want to remain adventurous in what we do and we will continue to be like that.
"We will not underestimate Belper who visit on Saturday as it's a very tight league.
"Three teams have pulled away but the rest of us have had good and bad patches - so Saturday is a must-win for us."
