KENDAL failed to get on the scoresheet against Bedford Athletic in a 10-0 defeat, but in fact crossed the tryline twice only for the scores to be ruled out by the referee.
By contrast, Bedford - desperate to stay in with a chance of escaping the drop - were hungry for points and protected them well once secured.
Second row Mike Hudson launched a strong thrust for the Kendal tryline following recycled ball from a lineout in the 22 and touched down in the 24th minute and Ashley Tapper converted.
Kendal got their backs in the action and winger Luke Ladell finished a flowing move only for the referee to adjuge there had been a forward pass.
Scrum-half Mark Airey then went over after a driving maul in the Bedford 22. However, the referee over-ruled his touchjudge to rule that Airey had knock-on in grounding the ball, something the players denied afterwards.
Tapper extended Bedford's lead with a 50th-minute penalty and Kendal's only chance afterwards came with a Dan Stephens pot at goal, which was wide.
Kendal battled away but Bedford showed the defiance borne out of desperation to hold on for four valuable points for them.
