PAKISTANI professional Kabir Khan - in his fourth year at Shap Road - will skipper Kendal instead of David Fallows this summer.
Fallows has been appointed as cricket coach to Sedbergh School, which will mean he will be absent for up to eight Northern League matches.
He said: "I will miss the first five Saturdays but will be available for two weekends before missing another two or three league fixtures.
"However, I will available for all the Sunday cup games."
Kendal had been recruiting players, he said, and were hoping to introduce a few new second-team players, and were also on the look-out for a proven first-team batsman.
Wicketkeeper Damien Gudgeon returns after missing most of last season with a broken arm he sustained in mid-season, while James Rafferty has wintered in Australia and further improvement is expected.
Adam Cowperthwaite has now finished A level studies at Sedbergh School and could figure in the first team as back-up seamer to Kevin Howarth and Kabir Khan.
Nets start this Sunday at Sedbergh School (6.30pm-8pm) and will be run by Mr Fallows, who can be contacted on 07976946869. Any new players are welcome to attend with a view to possibly joining the club at either first, second or third team level. On the social side, there will be a sports quiz on February 11 and a sponsored walk on April 10.
