WEST LANCS FOOTBALL: Milnthorpe Corinthians rwere unlucky to come away without at least a point from a match which Division One of the Aegon West Lancashire League leaders Blackpool Wren Rovers won 3-2 with a late penalty.
Played at the home of Lytham Cricket Club the surface was as good as footballers are likely to find and Wren started brightly and scored from a Corinthians error then doubled the advantage when a rebound from the bar was nodded in.
Graham Johnstone pulled a goal back just before half-time.
In the second half Corinthians came more into the game and deservedly equalised after good work from Adam Pashley and Gary Baker resulted in Paul Brooks putting the ball in the net.
As has been the luck for Corinthians this season, Wren were awarded a penalty for a push on a forward and netted the spot kick to take the points in a game where Corinthians were unlucky not to at least get a share of the points.
Corinthians Reserves' match at Euxton Villa was frozen off.
Furness Rovers were home to Whiney Hill in Division One and took the points 1-0 though a Steve Crompton goal. Millom hosted the visit of Bolton-based Tempest United and beat them 4-2 Craig Banks and Steven Grieve scoring two apiece.
Two goals by Stuart Walker and one by Holker Old Boys import Dale Cleece brought BAE Barrow SC their second win of the season in the Aegon West Lancashire League Premier Division, beating Fulwood Amateurs 3-1.
In Division Two, Askam United were home to Haslingden St Mary's and surprisingly lost 3-0. Furness Cavaliers travelled to BAC/EE Preston and came away with a 1-0 defeat.
