TOMORROW (Saturday) Kirkby Lonsdale can strengthen their lead in the Premier Division of the North Lancashire League.
The in-form side face lowly Slyne-Hest, currently second bottom and with only eight points to their credit this season, while second and third placed CCM Dynamos and Marsh United clash in an encounter which will see one, or both, drop points in their chase.
Cup action has meant that sixth-placed Ingleton have a massive seven games in hand of Kirkby and must also be in with a shout for the North Lancs title, but tomorrow they are absent from the league campaign yet again by another cup tie, a third round clash in the Craven Senior Cup away to Skipton LMS.
The storms wrecked last weekend's league programme, but a handful of games were played.
Third Division Galgate Reserves pulled off the shock of the day when they beat Second Division Marsh United Reserves 2-1 in the third round of the Squires Snooker Centre/Fisher Howson Cup.
Marsh started by far the better and threatened to swamp Galgate, but were kept at bay by veteran keeper Andy McNae. The only time he was beaten was by a Graham Rose penalty, but young Chris Haslam levelled the scores before the end of the normal time.
In heavy conditions both sides tired during extra-time and in the second period a Marsh mistake gave away a penalty, which Haslam fired home.
In the semi-final Galgate will face either Cartmel Reserves or Storeys Reserves.
In Division Two, Halton Rangers moved into second place behind Bentham after a hard fought, but fully deserved, 2-0 victory over Torrisholme Reserves. Jonathan Pink and Warren Goodwin sealed the points for Halton who, along with seven other teams in this closely fought division, are in with a chance of promotion.
In Division Three, Moorlands recorded their first victory of the season at the expense of Grange Reserves. It was a close match and a single Rob McHugh goal separated the sides.
For much of the match Grange pounded the Moorlands defence, But Moorlands were dangerous on the break with Dave Brown superb in midfield.
Millhead Reserves snatched the points with a 2-1 away win at Boys Club Reserves. Despite playing into a strong wind in the first half, Boys Club created many chances, but it was Millhead who took a fortunate lead after 25 minutes when a strong shot from Chris Sowerby was diverted past the keeper, who had it well-covered, by the outstretched foot of Boys Club centre half Buczyinski.
In the 45th minute Millhead went 2-0 up when Jamie Nichols scored from a half chance.
Paul Muckalt pulled one back for Boys Club in the second half, but playing against the wind and a determined Millhead side they could not find an equaliser.
Referee was Jeremy Simpson, who should have been in charge of the top game in the Conference North League, Southport v Alfreton, which had been called off.
The only other game played was the Division Three match between Gregson and Trimpell, which Trimpell won 2-1. Earlier in the season Trimpell beat Gregson 7-6, but this return clash was never going to produce goals in profusion because of the difficult conditions.
Andy Armistead scored both goals for Trimpell and Oliver Bailey netted for Gregson.
Results: Squires Snooker Centre/ Fisher/Howson Cup, third round: Galgate Reserves 2, Marsh United Reserves 1 (aet).
Division Two: Halton Rangers 2, Torrisholme Reserves 0.
Division Three: Moorlands 1, Grange Reserves 0; Boys Club Reserves 1, Millhead Reserves 2; Gregson 1, Trimpell 2.
