FOR the third time the weather foiled Kendal Town's attempts to stage their UniBond League President's Cup first round tie with Bishop Auckland.

The North Eastern side reached Scotch Corner on the A1 last night when their coach driver refused to go on because gale force winds threatened to make the trip over the Northern Pennines too dangerous.

Kendal players made use of their own wasted journeys to the ground for a hard training session in a bid to minimise the effects of the cancellations which have disrupted their match programme since Christmas.

Next action for Town is on Saturday when they face a long away trip to Leicestershire to meet Shepshead Dynamo, the UniBond League First Division newcomers who are something of an unknown quantity.

After a poor start to the season Shepshed have been picking up the points recently, but Kendal will be keen to erase memories of their 4-1 defeat at Telford and surprise 2-1 loss at home to Clitheroe by taking the points necessary to climb back up into the play off positions
