ALL season Glyn Ormerod has contested the leadership of the New Era Super Club Championship with keen rivals Rick Ellis and Steve Tomes and only 14 points separated them going into the final round at Donnington Park.
In pre race practice Ormerod was superb, but hit oil on the track at the fastest point on the circuit he crashed out into the gravel trap.
Despite being bruised and badly shaken he took his place on the grid in 24th position, way behind his rivals.
A superb starter he scorched through the field to complete the first lap in seventh, but luck deserted him as his bike lost power and he finished 14th.
Stripping and rebuilding his machine Glyn took to the grid in 20th place with only minutes to spare for the second race.
Another blistering start saw him up to fifth, which he held to the finish to take third overall in the championship, won by Tomes.
Over the winter months he will be working hard to secure sponsorship with the aim of having another tilt at the championship with two race-prepared machines.
